6 Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died,
Last year is dead. We can do nothing to change what happened. So also, the last decade, with all its monumental world events, cannot be changed. We have today. We can make choices today that change our future. In fact, the choices today, whether good or bad, will change your future. As the book of Exodus begins we see lives condensed in a few short words. From history’s perspective, our lives become a few short words. Life here on earth is so short. We need to work to make every moment count. We need to learn to revel in the small, wonders of life. Small children wonder every day at the things around them. When we get older, we don’t marvel at the clouds, and yet the clouds are worth wondering in. Clouds are beautiful. When was the last time you enjoyed looking at the clouds? When was the last time you marveled in their beauty? Or marveled in the wonder in a child’s eyes as they soak in their environment, learning small little things each moment? We only have right now. Our history will be punctuated with the statement about our death. We need to make the most of this moment, of today. Don’t waste it. Or you will end up with another year, or decade, that has sped by without investing time in noticing the wonders of God. Make this year count. Make it count for Jesus!
