6 And they had nothing to say.

Truth speaks! I love it when an opponent has nothing to say in response to God’s work. Jesus catches these religious leaders in their hypocrisy and they can’t say a thing. This is amazing since, so often, instead of saying nothing when we get caught in hypocrisy, we fight back. We deflect the blame and point our fingers in different directions. Everyone becomes an object of our blame. Finger pointing should become an Olympic sport. Then we could all participate! But Jesus’ words shut them up. Then he goes on to prove that His words have power. They are more than political speech-making. He not only says that restoration is possible, but He makes restoration a reality. That is faith in action. God wants to do such great things through us if we would just not place limits on what He wants to do. Let God be God! Get out of His way! We should have nothing to say when God wants to move other than, “Yes, Lord!” When God moves we have the privilege of saying something, and that something can be, “You are worthy.” I hope we don’t end up with nothing to say like these religious leaders. A miracle had happened and they had nothing to say. What a sad state of affairs. God moves and we are silent because it did not go our way. If we don’t say something, the rocks will start shouting. And that would scare me, so I am going to say something myself. When God moves, as He is moving, “To You, O Lord, be the glory.” God is so faithful. He has a work to do, and He is doing it because we are getting out of His way. We are making ourselves available for use, and He is using us. Are you making yourself available for God to use? It means you get to be a clay pot that gets filled with an invaluable treasure for a time. People will admire the treasure and ignore you. Can you live with that? Can you rejoice in your clay-potness? I hope so, because the Lord will not share His glory with another. So if you start painting the pot, God will find some other clay pot to fill. Keep the focus on the treasure. Let people see Jesus. Then God can do His work.
