Job 33:14–18 14For God does speak—now one way, now another— though no one perceives it. 15In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on people as they slumber in their beds, 16he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings, 17to turn them from wrongdoing and keep them from pride, 18to preserveContinue reading “Purpose of Speaking”

Byline
2 Samuel 9:13 13 And Mephibosheth lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king’s table; he was lame in both feet. Sometime the names we gather about us are not what we would select ourselves. The name gathering starts when we are young and they are often not very complimentary. You remember the names!Continue reading “Byline”
Say and Do
1 Sam 28:3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned for him and buried him in his own town of Ramah. Saul had expelled the mediums and spiritists from the land. Sometimes our words don’t match our actions. We say one thing and do another. We all have a little bit of hypocriteContinue reading “Say and Do”
Total Moral Collapse
Judges 21:25 In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as they saw fit. There are some things that everyone would agree are just plain wrong. But even as I write this, I know that there are still some who see the world upside down morally. So even things like rape and child abuseContinue reading “Total Moral Collapse”
Not Endless, Only!
Deuteronomy 4:2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you. I hate it when playing a game and the rules change right when I am about to get ahead. I think this is a universalContinue reading “Not Endless, Only!”

He is not distant, having started the project, given it the ability toContinue reading “Uncomfortable Truth”
Between Two States
Well, I find myself in a strange place. The suitcase is packed, but I need some of the things in the suitcase to continue to live before the trip. What do I do? I could go out an buy the things I need, or I could unpack some of the suitcase. I really don’t wantContinue reading “Between Two States”
Walk the Walk
1 John 3:7-8 One of the most difficult tasks these days is to deny that evil exists and that people do evil things. Just open your favorite news site and you will see evil. You can see it in the beheadings and the mass kidnappings. You can see it in the greed that drivesContinue reading “Walk the Walk”
Motivation
1 John 3:3 As a boy I liked to play with cars, as most kids do from time to time. You could put yourself in the car and drive up the tallest mountains (the couch) or across the desert (the coffee table). You could be in a sports car or in a battle tank.Continue reading “Motivation”
Righteous!
1 John 2:29 What we believe changes how we live. If we believe we are Superman, we have no problem leaping from the 10th story window of a building or standing on a train track ready to stop an oncoming train. If we believe we are superior we ignore the rules that normal peopleContinue reading “Righteous!”
